Whether you are at fault for an accident or not, you may be entitled to receive accident benefits from your own insurance company under the terms of your policy. These benefits are often referred to as “no-fault” benefits. Sam Parlatore and his team can assist you with your application for no-fault benefits and, if necessary, represent you in any disputes you may have with your insurer. They work with you and your insurance provider to ensure you receive the benefits you need.
Types of Available Benefits
Following a serious motor vehicle accident, you may need to access your insurance coverage for medical treatment, loss of income, or even living assistance. The most common accident benefits available through your Ontario insurance policy are:
- Medical/Rehabilitation Benefits – These are funds that are available for medical treatments which are typically not covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) such as assistive devices, physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment, occupational therapy, massage therapy, vocational therapy, rehabilitation therapy, speech language pathology and more.
- Income Replacement Benefits – If you were injured in a motor vehicle accident and were employed at the time of the accident, these are funds which are available to replace a portion of the income you would have earned were you able to work. The amount of the benefit depends on the coverage available under your policy and the income you were earning at the time of the accident.
- Non-Earner Benefits – If you do not qualify for an income replacement benefit, you may be eligible to receive a non-earner benefit if you meet certain criteria.
- Attendant Care Benefits – These are funds which are available to obtain assistance with various activities of daily living if you are unable to complete these activities on your own due to your accident related injuries.
- Caregiver Benefits – If your policy includes this optional benefit, you may be eligible to receive caregiving benefits if you require assistance with your caregiving duties for minors or parties under a disability due to your accident related injuries.
- Housekeeping Benefits – If your policy includes this optional benefit, you may be eligible to receive assistance with your housekeeping and home maintenance duties if your accident related injuries prevent you from completing these duties.
Denied Benefits Assistance
On occasion, while an insurance company has started benefit payments, they will terminate payments before you have healed. In these cases, Sam Parlatore and his team will coordinate with his network of medical specialists to conduct an independent assessment of your condition. They will then work on your behalf to have your benefits reinstated.
